![]() The oldest of Meminisse's five universities, Marrowston was founded on the restored grounds of a former mental institution by three of the world's first inhabitants, Captain Daniel Philip Marrowston, Colonel James Franklin Edgemarsh and Matthew Appleton Swynbridge. With the help of other firstcomers who had settled in the Sweetwild area and what is now Thornwell and its surrounding villages, the three men began to develop courses of study by which they might pass along their own growing knowledge of the gifts and abilities given to them by this new world. Over time, the institution grounds were restored and the buildings repaired and repurposed in order to house the growing student body. Today the university houses just under 200 undergraduate students and provides continued education for approximately 100 graduates.

![]() The Marrowston campus is large and airy, with four buildings encircling a massive courtyard. To the south, the main building is sprawling and castle-like in structure, built in the typical sanitarium fashion of the day, with a central area to contain common spaces and a wing spread to either side. The building is three stories tall, four stories in the towers, and rests atop a basement, which is off limits to students. To the west side of campus is the Edgemarsh dormitory, housing Freshmen and Sophomores, and to the east is Swynbridge, housing Juniors and Seniors. At the north end is the staff building, the first floor of which contains the administrative and advisory offices, as well as the infirmary. Decorative gardens are located in front of the main building and the staff building with fountain gardens to the main building's rear. The main courtyard contains a large pond, which is open for swimming during warmer months and freezes over during the winter, surrounded by stands of trees. Parking and bike racks are found to the far south, in front of the main building, the car spaces primarily kept for commuting staff and graduate students. Limited car passes are available to undergraduates during summer sessions. While the university does not have any space for sporting events on campus, students who wish to take part in such activities will be provided with transportation into Thornwell in order to join local clubs and teams. Students will also be provided transportation, should they wish to make day trips into the city and surrounding villages when school is not in session. Transportation can also be provided for longer weekend and holiday trips into other local cities and towns, though students are required to provide an address at which they will be staying so that they may be contacted by school staff in case of any emergencies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Marrowston Hall is the main building of the university, in which all classes take place. It consist of a ground, second and third floors as well as fourth floors in the two towers. A basement also exists, the only open part of which is the kitchen, all other portions being locked. Undergraduate students are not allowed into the basement. Should any unauthorized student be found wandering in an off limits area, they will be assigned a week's house arrest, during which time they may not take part in any extracurricular activities and are expected to only be found outdoors while walking from their dormitory to the main building and back again. The ground floor of Marrowston Hall includes the dining hall, which is located directly across the entry hall from the front doors and also acts as an auditorium, and access to the library, as well as 36 classrooms and two lecture halls. The Library entrance is found at the far end of the west wing, with three video rooms found on the ground floor and stairs leading up to the second story. All ground floor corridor windows facing the fountain gardens are full-length and are generally open to be used as doorways during the warmer months.

Marrowston University includes two dormitories. To the west is Edgemarsh, housing Freshmen and Sophomores, and to the east is Swynbridge, housing Juniors and Seniors. Each year is relegated to its own wing, each wing consisting of seventeen dorm rooms (housing 48 students), a private room for one Residence Assistant (this job being performed by graduate students), a study room, restroom, showers and a computer lab, as well as access to a common area at the center of the dormitory. There is a stairwell from this common area to a second floor terrace. Dormitories are co-ed with same-sex rooming. Gender non-conforming students are welcome to discuss their rooming preferences with an adviser prior to the issuing of room assignments. Shower rooms are co-ed but each stall includes a curtained changing room space between the main room and the shower itself. Any disagreements between roommates that require moderation should be taken to the R.A. If the issue cannot be settled and a reassignment of rooms proves necessary, an adviser will step in to handle the matter. ![]() ![]()
